Item Description
Lot of 14 pieces comprise complete basic set of 12 painted plaster statues (measuring between 1" and 4.5" tall), paint palette for use in painting said statues as well as advertising sheet. Made by GEM Clay Forming Company for distribution by both sponsors of the Tarzan radio show and others in 1932. Set includes Tarzan w/Cheetah (this is first version w/o name on base), Kala holding baby Tarzan, Jane Porter, Numa the Lion, Sheeta the Panther, Witch Doctor, Pirate w/treasure chest, Lt. D'Arnot, Cannibal Warrior and Monkey Trio (which were counted as a single item and shipped in same box). All have nice vintage paint jobs by original owner and all but one of monkey trio have been coated in varnish. One monkey has tiny edge flake, and there is some scattered paper residue adhered to varnish, but statues still display nicely. Fine to VF overall. 3x4-7/8" die-cut card palette has six pads of paint attached. These show expected wear as used and palette is Fine overall. Scarce. Double-sided 9.5x12.5" order form features images of the painted statues and well as a color guide and has images of issuer Fould's pasta products on back. Folded as issued w/moderate age spotting/dust soiling along folds, which show scattered wear. VG. See rare premium bkg. and order form, previous item.
