Item Description
3x4.5" to 7x11". See previous item for additional history. Upon his arrival a mass of Koreans met Ike on his motorcade route where they waved thin paper Korean and American flags. This group includes: two boards w/mounted Korean and American flags used during the demonstration (first Korean flag has text at bottom right "Ike's Trip To Korea 1959" mis-attributed and less than .5" loss at top right), second has Korean flag on reverse and American flag w/moderate handling wear, VG); original c.1960 photo of Ike greeting Koreans from his vehicle w/numerous onlookers waving these flags (reverse of photo has "Office Of Public Information Republic Of Korea" stamp, minor handling Exc.) and a handbill produced by "Korean Working Students Association" reading "We Like Ike!/We Love Peace-Maker!/Communist Invasion Has Brought Our Self-Supporting Students To The/Consolidated Free-Camp! Help Korean Students In The U.S./Help Themselves!/More Scholarship To Korean Boys!" (mounted to scrapbook board, scattered light brown toning, VG). Collected by Secret Service Agent Samuel Kinney, these are likely the only surviving examples. Accompanied by two letters from Mr. Kinney's daughter and a "Special Agent Ret./The White House Washington" Secret Service business card.
