Item Description
Johnny Weissmuller (1904-1984) was a competition swimmer prior to playing Tarzan in films of the 1930s and 1940s, having one of the best competitive swimming records of the 20th century. Weissmuller won five Olympic gold medals for swimming and one bronze medal for water polo. Offered here are three items, including 1933 Goudey "Sport Kings Gum" #21 featuring "Johnny Weissmuller/Swimming," which has brief mention of his movie career on back. PSA graded GOOD 2, but the visual appeal of this card is far greater than the designated grade. 7-3/8x8.75" glossy picture is 1933 Wheaties premium for Jack Armstrong radio program and shows Weissmuller swimming w/facsimile inscription/signature including Tarzan name. Pin hole at top/bottom center and vertical crease w/margin wear along right. VG/Fine. 8x10" photo on stiff paper shows Weissmuller in swimmer's stance wearing swimsuit w/"BVD Swim Club" emblem. 1934 movie theater premium as facsimile inscription reads "I'll Be Seeing You In Tarzan And His Mate At Loew's Johnny Weissmuller." Photo has rippling and horizontal crease at center. Fine. Rare.
