Item Description
6.5" long ribbon w/FDR's portrait set against a background of the dam w/text "Welcome To The President From The Advocates Of The Grand Coulee High Dam August 4, 1936." Horizontal fold at center and scattered pin holes in top margin. Fine. Buttons are; "Welcome Pres. Roosevelt/We Want The High Dam August 4, 1936/Adrian Grange 911" and "Gran Coulee Official Celebration June 18, '34." Roosevelt's visit to view the construction site was not without some controversy as two competing proposals for dams existed. Button and ribbon were worn by a member of the group supporting the "High Dam" which FDR ultimately endorsed. Also include are two real photo post cards illustrating the dam which is the largest power station in the US. Unless noted all have minor wear. Exc. to NM. A terrific group w/all items scarce to rare. Ron Koot Collection.
