Item Description
14x15x40" high original box contains this classic toy that was introduced in late 1963 for one Christmas season only w/limited numbers produced w/a retail price of $9.99. Box is complete w/original cardboard inserts and is evenly aged w/some scattered creasing at edges and some surface paper wear along bottom. Top flaps have a few staples holes as opened and box has a few .5" to 1" line punctures. Still Fine overall. Elaborately designed and detailed toy stands 37" tall and has both original and working red light bulb eyes w/battery box free of corrosion. Top of head has "Scanner Scope" w/sight crosshairs, though missing yellow sighting cup attachment as is typical. Box shows Big Loo holding included "Moon Grenade," which is missing 2" section of one fin. Right arm has working spring mechanism which opens and closes hands so objects can be picked up. Designed w/hand-cranked voice box, which, contrary to almost all known examples, all 10 phrases can be heard clearly when directions on included instruction sheet are followed. Phrases include - "My Name Is Big Loo, Big Loo Fights For You, I Am Yours To Command" plus seven others. Designed w/rocket-firing launcher in base which is complete w/two rockets. There is an additional ball-launching function and one of the four issued plastic balls is included. "Sonic Signal" hard plastic whistle is missing from back of head. Back of body has Morse Code sticker w/opening for working Morse Code clicking mechanism plus opening w/lever that rings bell. Toy design includes interior spring that facilitates his lifting up again when he pivots at the waist. Missing thin plastic "Water Ray" squirt bulb that was inserted in back to squirt jet of water from front. Comes w/two complete suction cup-tipped safety darts and pair of rubber-tipped missiles that fire from front. Rubber suction cups have hardened w/age. Working compass between feet. Original large instruction sheet included. There are no broken/cracked areas and aside from lt. general aging and bit of paint wear to point of head, toy still displays VF. Extremely rare w/fully functioning voice box and w/original box as most of these large toy boxes soon ended up thrown out or in rough condition. Classic 1960s Marx toy.
