Item Description
The "Straight Arrow" comic book, published by Magazine Enterprises, first came out in Feb. 1950 w/the daily strip debuting June 19, 1950 (and running to Aug. 4, 1951). Gardner Fox and Ray Krank wrote the strip, w/art by Joe Certa and John Belfi. Offered here is a 11.25x18" stiff paper folder issued in 1950 to promote "Straight Arrow - The Only Indian Hero In The Comics" by The Bell Syndicate, Inc. Folder opens 18x22-5/8" and reprints the first 12 daily strips and lists various licensed Straight Arrow products, including latex mask, coloring book, puzzles, signal drum, bow and arrow target game, "Cowboy & Indian Game" and others as well as mentioning the "Straight Arrow" comic book. Back cover features color ad mat w/portraits of Straight Arrow, Steve Adams, Packy and large teepee. Horizontal fold at center as issued w/some scattered wear along fold line. Front cover has some small scattered age spots. Fine overall. Limited distribution, mainly sent to newspaper editors. Great design. Rare. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
