Item Description
1.25" shows enraged apple peddler beating his fallen horse with Angel of Mercy floating above holding sword in one hand and raising other hand to stop the brutality. We've seen 4 examples with 2 different imprints. This reads "S.F.S.P.C.A. Band Of Mercy." This does not have a back paper but one that did ( and realized over $600.00 in Auction #192) read:  "Membership Badge/Presented By The San Francisco Society Of Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals."  Light oxidation on the metal back with some age dots around the collet: however, on the front the only defects are a very tiny side edge dent or flat spot and two faint, barely seen, age dots above the letter "A" at 2 o'clock. Superb color and high gloss. Fine overall but still displays NM. Early and rare c. 1900.
