Item Description
Lot of five items, four of which related to "Popeye Club" that was sponsored by many different theaters during the 1930s. 8x10" certificate was issued by Kingsport, TN State Theatre and has neatly inked recipient name, membership number and 1938 date. Certificate shows scattered aging and some handling wear at lower left corner. Fine/VF overall. Rare. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA. 2.75x4" membership card for different theater has different recipient's name inked. Card shows moderate wear w/holes and rust ring from button that was once attached. VG. Scarce. Pair of 15/16" dia. cello buttons by Parisian Novelty Co. each read "Popeye The Sailor - A Paramount Picture" w/1935 KFS copyright. One has "Sears Victory Theatre Popeye Club" imprint whereas other does not. 1" dia cello button was for "The Popeye Club" and does not feature maker's name but of Australian origin. Scarce. All are glossy and Exc.
