Item Description
The Superman Daily comic strip began running in Jan. 1939. It is very likely that this rare button is from that year. Rim text says "Read Superman Daily In The Democrat." This example also has serious condition defects including numerous cello hairline cracks. The most serious runs vertically .5" from the left, crossing the full length of button and then at the bottom it follows the edge from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock. These areas have had glue repairs as well as touch-up to the head area of his shadow. This 3/16" dia. shadow area has bit of extra gloss. Small bit of pale gray tone around lower right edge and center area is very slightly pushed in. Technically just "Fair" condition but displays VG. Consignor's opening bid is most conservative, considering we know of only one undamaged example of this rare button.
