Item Description
While a Topps issue, all in this lot is from the Fleer Archives as they kept tabs on their competitor's products and comes w/typed index card "Spec Sheet" from Fleer. All items have some glue staining as once mounted for archiving purposes. The 2.5x3.5" cards were the first since the All-Star sets of 1951 to be die-cut, making them designed for upright display. First is the rarely seen countertop display box. 3.75x8x2" deep and originally contained 24 5¢ wax packs. Includes two example card images on the die-cut lid and single images on three other sides. Back panel is generic ad for Topps Baseball. Glue staining to interior as once neatly flattened but now assembled as intended. Outside shows lt. wear but is bright and glossy, VF. Pair of wrappers, each about 5x6", 1¢ and 5¢ varieties. 1¢ has pair of 1" margin tears and 2.5" clear tape strip at center that is peeling, Good. 5¢ has lt. creases as originally folded and trace of glue staining on back but front displays EX. There are 77 cards in the set. It is loaded with HOFers. Some key cards are: Aaron, Banks, Clemente, Drysdale, Koufax, Mantle, Mays, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Spahn, Yastrzemski. Backs are blank and all have traces of glue staining at corners. For the most part fronts are bright and clean. More importantly, all remain unpunched. While fronts display as EX or better, cards are being sold as is. A rare opportunity to obtain a complete set w/box. From the Bruce Weiner Collection/Fleer Archives.
