7/8" (22mm) gilt brass. "Scovills & Co. Superfine" on reverse. Dated 1845 in anticipation of Clay's ascension to the presidency that would not come to pass. Only minor wear to raised points. Sharp details. NM. An attractive example of this scarce button.
