Item Description
This button is one of a series spanning 1903 through 1908 issued for the Baer family annual single day reunions held at Kutztown Park, about 20 miles west of Allentown, PA. The first took place in 1900 but 1903 is the first known button and this from 1904 is the second. These two buttons show "realistic" bears but as the Theodore Roosevelt teddy bear phenomenon became more pervasive, the bears become more anthropomorphic. On this, there are five bears (don't miss the one on the tree) and one is standing on its head. Rim has maybe 10% color fade and three tiny age dots. Full gloss and complete with Reading Badge paper. One tiny 1/16" cello split on back by the collet. VF. Rare.
