Item Description
Here is a gorgeous rwb, yellow and lustrous gold 1.25" rare button with very rarely seen tin reverse consisting of a raised outer circle of metal around a narrow recessed channel of metal with a second raised metal circular area at the center which is stamped "Phelps/PAT/June 23, '96". The button promotes the Haywards, Cal. "Street Fair" Sept 17-20, 1902 with initials for the groups Native Sons (and Daughters) of the Golden West. Pictured is a jester with baton riding a golden California bear.  The only flaw of sorts is that the reverse fixed vertical stickpin points up to 12 o'clock rather than down to 6 o'clock as the metal back was inserted into the celluloid upside down. Condition is otherwise NM displaying Mint. The only example known to us. Rare.
