Item Description
9.5x16x4.5" deep cardboard box w/glossy "Howdy Doody" label on front contains mechanical acrobat toy made in West Germany by Arnold, © Kagran 1950s. Box features additional illustrated label on back that shows toy's functions. Box is complete but shows some wear at top flaps and corners w/creases and 1" to 2" tears. Bottom edge has concave warp and bottom of box has strips of tape staining. Box is VG/Fine overall but labels remain glossy, bright and VF. Toy consists of 4.25x9.25" tin litho base w/tin litho poles at left right w/wire pole connecting them at top. 10.25" tall Howdy Doody figure is attached to this w/plastic hands and has nicely painted composition head and fabric clothing. Toy has overall height of 16" and when lever button on right pole is pushed down, it causes figure to perform acrobatic flips. Attached counterweight causes figure to reverse course as toy resets. Poles have some scattered paint wear but toy is o/w VF/Exc.
