Item Description
Lot of three boxed hand puppets w/printed cloth bodies and soft vinyl heads w/google eyes. Peter Puppet Playthings. © Kagran. 1950s. Lot includes three from set of six - Howdy Doody, Dilly Dally and Zippy the Monkey. Window boxes each measure 5.5x5.75x3" deep and are designed to represent "Scope Doodle" device, w/printed instructions on back and character names on fronts ("Zippy" name has been stamped w/grease pencil price beside it and at upper corner). Boxes show varying degrees of moderate to obvious wear and are evenly aged. Zippy box is missing window, other remain firmly attached and free of splits/punctures. Boxes have some scattered creases and edge tears as well as a few splits to top flap hinge. Boxes are VG to Fine. Both Howdy Doody and Dilly Dally come w/original box inserts and Howdy comes w/aged and worn Peter Puppet Playthings catalog folder. Howdy is approx. 8" tall and has printed cloth body featuring images of Howdy Doody characters. Howdy's head has become tacky w/age and body has some aging. Fine. Dilly Dally is approx. 9" tall and has some age spotting to "hands." Puppet is o/w VF. Zippy is approx. 8.5" tall and shows little to no wear. Exc.
