Item Description
From same series as previous item. 22x30" thick molded and painted composition high relief store display depicts large Clarabell face above his name. Made by Old King Cole Displays Inc., who made a wide variety of exceptional Disney displays for stores and theaters during the 1930s and 1940s. This store display dates to the 1950s and was part of a series featuring "Howdy Doody" character portraits set against star bkg. and these were used to promote the various pieces of merchandise bearing Howdy Doody's name. Tip of Clarabell's nose is missing surface paint. Top point of star has been holed for hanging display and tips of stars show moderate wear. Center left has .25x.75" edge chip (this is mainly seen from back and is not distracting to front's display). Top edges have some crazing w/4.5" surface crack to top edge of green section of star. Two .5" areas of paint wear; one on Clarabell's forehead by green splotch of paint, the other on cheek. Display is evenly aged and has some expected dust soiling given its textured nature. VG overall. Rare and first we've seen in our 53 years and among the most impressive Howdy Doody displays we've seen.
