Item Description
6.25x20.75" artboard features four panels of pen and ink original art by "Archie" co-creator Bob Montana. Art is for the Jan. 18, 1957 daily strip and features Archie and Betty attending one of Mrs. Lodge's fancy parties, only to discover Jughead working as a butler. Jughead carries tray which Mrs. Lodge absent mindedly grabs something off of and pops into her mouth only to shout "Agggg!! I'm Poisoned!" to which Veronica asks Jughead what type of hors d'oeuvre he was serving, Jughead replies he was emptying an ashtray. Archie and Betty only appear in first panel while Jughead appears in every panel. Veronica only appears in third panel. Montana has signed and dated last panel which has double McClure Newspaper Syndicate paste-overs. Penciled date at upper right margin. Back has photo engraver inkstamp. Artboard has evenly aged screentone accents and some staining surrounding them. Top margin has slight trim, not affecting art, which displays VF.
