Item Description
11x17" artboard has pen and ink original art for page 5 of "Tom Strong" Vol. 1 #1, published by America's Best Comics (an imprint of DC Comics' Wildstorm division) June 1999. Page features four panels, showing Tom Strong's parents Sinclair and Susan Strong stranded on the shores of Attabar Teru. Sinclair assembles his steam-powered robot assistant Pneuman, this being the character's debut. Last panel shows Pneuman powering up. Top margin has inked title and issue/page numbers and Sprouse's name. Left/right margins have some handwritten editorial notations to inker Al Gordon and colorist. Sprouse has signed in black ink at lower right. Back of artboard has extensive preliminary pencil sketches, featuring different views of published page.
