Item Description
The first of two fights between Sonny Liston and Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) for boxing's World Heavyweight Championship took place Feb. 25, 1964 in Miami Beach, FL, the match being among the most anticipated, watched and controversial fights in the sport's history. "Sports Illustrated" named this match (in which Clay won the Championship from Liston) as the fourth greatest sports moment of the 20th century. Offered here is a 27x41" poster for 20th Century-Fox's distribution of 35mm film of the match, which were quickly processed and distributed to theaters where they were presented in special performances. Poster features full body photo images of Liston and Clay. Poster has been folded as issued and shows wear w/1" corner off upper left and .75x1" piece missing at lower right. Staple holes at corners w/pull/tear at top right. Center left has scattered moisture staining by Liston's head and arm. Some faint staining at lower left by bottom fold line. VG overall.
