Item Description
Pair of 1940s mugs made in England featuring British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Both feature his image and reference Churchill's famous 1940 "We Shall Fight On The Beaches" speech. 4.25" tall china mug is Wedgwood commemorative w/high relief Churchill profile on one side and high relief heraldic lion rampant on opposite side. Base of mug has "Give Us The Tools And We Will Finish The Job" text w/additional portion of speech on underside along w/Wedgwood markings. Exc. Large 8.25" tall figural ceramic mug by Beswick (No. 931 as incised on underside) shows Churchill seated on Union Jack draped chair holding scroll w/painted portion of the 1940 speech. Mug has figural heraldic lion handle. Typical crazing w/some soiling to interior but exterior remains clean and displays Exc.
