11.25x17x2.5" deep box w/nicely illustrated lid contains Lionel Set No. 1536, © Walt Disney Enterprises, c. 1935. Box is missing insert and lid shows moderate to obvious wear w/two corner splits and three side panel tears. Box bottom has three side panel tears. Box is evenly aged and has some heavy creasing to side panels. VG. Train consists of 7" long wind-up painted metal engine, 4" long coal car w/attached painted composition Mickey Mouse figure (who holds painted tin shovel) and three different 6" long tin litho train cars. The engine's wind-up action works well - back wheels w/attached side rails revolve w/rod movement and bell rings. This is engine variety w/light on front, however, a special battery is required for operation, which is no longer produced. As such, we cannot test the light, but small light bulb is still present. Engine comes w/replacement key. Engine shows scattered paint wear w/more moderate wear to bottom front, which shows some bare metal. Fine. Coal car Mickey figure is jointed at waist and is designed to move up and down as if shoveling as the train travels around the track. Back is marked "Mickey Mouse Stoker." Tin car shows scattered paint wear on edges and where Mickey's shovel rests and along edges. Fine/VF. The three train cars each have a different title and these are "Mickey Mouse Circus, Mickey Mouse Band. Circus Dining Car." All have scattered tiny traces of paint wear but o/w remain clean and feature great images. Cars are VF overall. Set includes correct amount of eight sections of curved track and two sections of straight track. Missing 5" tall painted composition figure of Mickey as a circus barker. Set comes w/die-cut cardboard accessory pieces that include large circus tent w/"walls" featuring wonderful graphics of various Disney characters in circus parade. This has separated at "Entrance" area; die-cut Mickey Mouse image above "Entrance sign is missing one ear. Tent has scattered creases and dust soiling. Circus tent top is missing one large tab, other tab has heavy creases. Flag unit for top of tent is present but missing long tab that secured hanging circus performers to inside of tent. Tent is VG overall. Separate pieces include "Sunoco" gas pumps, Sunoco billboard, "Mickey Mouse Circus" barrel truck, "To The Circus" piece featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse and two (of 10) 5¢ admission tickets. Missing pieces for gas station building and piece w/Disney characters as circus performers that hung inside tent. Scattered general wear from assembly w/varying degrees of aging to pieces. VG to VF overall. A true classic for both collectors of Disneyana and train sets.
