Item Description
Nick Carter began as a dime novel private detective in 1886 and has appeared in a variety of formats over the years. In the 1930s, due to the success of "The Shadow" and "Doc Savage," Street & Smith revived Carter in pulp magazine format that was published 1933-1936. Offered here are both versions of the 1" tall silver luster "Nick Carter Club" badge; "S463" membership number is version w/bar pin on reverse while "C972" membership number is version w/stud back. Both were issued by "Nick Carter Detective Magazine" pulp, c. 1934. Bar pin variety has slight even aging to metal and is VF overall while stud version is Exc. Comes w/4-1/8x5.5" "Nick Carter Fingerprint Set" booklet from boxed set. Back cover has ad for membership club showing badge that was available for 10¢. Booklet shows handling wear/aging and has some tiny insect damage by staple. VG and just comes along.
