Item Description
1-5/8x2-3/8" Cuban card from set distributed in packs of Diaz cigarettes. The cards in this set feature players from the 1923-1924 Cuban Professional League. 85 cards are in the set, the largest and one of the scarcest of all 1920s Cuban card issues. Printed in dark brown with photo on front along with team and player name and position "Dressen - Infielder Marianao B.B.C."

One of only five in the SGC census.

Played in the Major Leagues for the Cincinnati Reds from 1925-31 and the New York Giants in 1933. Following his playing career, Chuck Dressen was a long time manager and coach in MLB from 1934-66 , most notably for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He won World Series titles coaching with the Yankees ('47) and the Los Angeles Dodgers ('59). He played one season for the Cuban League Marianao team and led the team that year in average (.353) and RBI's (29). Card back includes number and description of the series with offer for an album. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
