Item Description
1.5x1.75" w/bw photo front and text back w/player information. These were issued in matchboxes. Over 100 cards in the set and numerous photo and back varieties exist.
One of only 3 in the SGC census.
Fernandez was one of the earliest Cuban ballplayers to star in the U.S. Negro Leagues, beginning his career in 1916 for the Cuban Stars (East). Jose would wind up spending a total of 35 years in Negro League baseball. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
