Item Description
17-3/8x19-1/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by "The Yellow Kid" and "Buster Brown" creator, R.F. Outcault. Art features scene of three children and dog, smallest child wearing adult shoes and a hat that's far too large for her head, while carrying cane and umbrella while dragging large travel bag. This art was published in the June 23, 1900 issue of "Judge" magazine. Outcault has boldly signed at lower right and artboard has 1-7/8x4.75" corner clip, not affecting Outcault's signature or art. Art was once matted and majority of circular image has moderate even aging w/some scattered darker age spots. 1.25x2" lighter spot to left of dog from moisture staining on back. Back of artboard has remnants from mounting. VG/Fine overall. Art comes w/Judge Art Department label w/handwritten May 29, 1900 date in pencil along w/inked size and receipt date. This was applied to back of period frame backing paper and has been clipped. Label shows wear w/irregular 1" hole and puncture at center. Art could be matted and framed for nice display.
