Item Description
1.5x2.25" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand and a follow up to the 1924-1925 series. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 37 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers, soccer players and other subjects. Glossy photo front w/text below portrait "Base-Ball L. Rodriguez (Pitcher)".
One of six graded in the SGC Census.
Bernardo "Lalo" Rodriguez was the first pitcher in the history of the Cuban National Team and in the Central American Games of 1926 had the first complete game, shutout, and win in the international baseball tournament. The card back has the card number and an ad for Aguilitas (the baseball cards were skip numbered between 751 and 849). Image is bold w/some fading of the name and position. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
