Item Description
10x14" on thin paper. Promoting a "Mon., Aug. 11," 1980 event starting at New York City's Central Park and culminating w/march to Madison Square Garden. Rock Against Racism (RAR) was a campaign set up in the UK in 1976 as a response to increasing racial conflict and the growth of white nationalist groups. The campaign involved pop, rock, punk and reggae musicians staging concerts w/an anti-racist theme, in order to discourage young people from embracing racism. The campaign was founded, in part, as a response to statements and activities by well-known rock musicians that were widely regarded as racist. Entertainment for this event included - Reggae, Panic Squad, Bad Brains. Design features photos of policemen in riot gear plus four uniformed members of Ku Klux Klan. Slogans in large lettering read "Stop Killer Cops!, Ban The Klan, Rock 'N' Roll Throughout The Land!" Margin crease at lower right, faint moisture stain at top right and light edge toning. Fine.
