Item Description
11x17" artboard has pencil original art by Luke McDonnell that has been inked by John Beatty. Art is for page 31 of "Marvel Fanfare" #5, published by Marvel Nov. 1982. Page from "Shall Freedom Endure..." story has six panels, featuring a ragged Steve Rogers fighting son of Nazi villain defeated by Captain America and Bucky during World War II. Of note, the villain wears Captain America's costume and beats Steve in front of statue depicting Captain America about to stab a stricken Bucky Barnes w/Nazi flagpole. Steve refuses to give up and final panel shows imposter Captain America raising his shield (breaking the fourth wall of the panel). Steve Rogers appears in every panel and imposter Captain America appears (or appears partially) in each panel as well. Top margin has "Marvel Spotlight" and "Marvel Fanfare" titles and page number. Page has even moderated aging (including screentone shield accents in first, third and last panels) w/slightly darker age spotting. Back has Marvel copyright inkstamp. Fine overall.
