Item Description
Scarce large 2.25" with curl naming maker Cruver, Chicago. Top center in his iconic hat, is "Connie Mack, Mgr." with 16 surrounding players, all in matching ovals and most in a profile photo with each last name and abbreviated player position below the image. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, four games to one, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B). Reverse silvering is 98% intact and reverse curl along the collet has numerous but tiny tan dots. However, the only age marks on the front are a pinpoint at 2:30, and three on or above the cap of Lapp at 8 o'clock. At 3 o'clock, Plank has a .25" cello scratch above his hat with a barely seen 1/16" break revealing a near microscopic dot of white paper. The center advertising text, which includes "Pawn Tickets Redeemed" has faint trace of age tone around the street address. The celluloid is VF overall with high gloss, superb contrast and strikingly detailed photos. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
