Item Description
Only example know to Hake's, 2.25" with back paper of J. H. Shaw/Philadelphia. Pictured in crisp sepia detail, without dot screen, are Connie Mack and his 22 players each identified by name in tiny text. The 1910 Philadelphia Athletics ball club ran away with the American League pennant, finishing the season with a record of 102-48, leaving them 14.5 games ahead of the second place New York Highlanders under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack. Philadelphia would then go on to dispose of the Chicago Cubs, four games to one, to win the 1910 World Series. The Athletics were led by four HOF team members: Eddie Plank (SP), Chief Bender (SP), Eddie Collins (2B) and Frank "Home Run" Baker (3B). Button shares the same photo with a very popular postcard which was also produced in 1910 (postcard image available online). The reverse collet holds 2" tall fabric American flag with small trace of dust soil and a couple pin holes. The celluloid has light and minor widely scattered surface scratches seen largely only in reflected light. Cello surface is a hair concave as made. Full gloss. Impressive and VF.  Paul Muchinsky Collection.
