Item Description
11.75x12x1" deep cardboard box w/nicely illustrated lid featuring central Superman image as well as smaller images of Supergirl and Batman has Spanish title that translates to "Superman In His Best Adventure." Made in Peru by Industrias SAAS Lima Peru, late 1950s/early 1960s. Box lid has had all over restoration including color touch-ups and corner repairs/replacements. Box tray has two 1" tear repairs to side panels and shows restoration as well. Box is complete w/cardboard insert and displays Fine overall. Separate spinner present (w/surface paper starting to peel at one corner) and game is missing three of the 25 text only cards (all from white set). 11.5x20.25" gameboard features six different images of Superman (including one of him fighting Titano the Super-Ape and another showing Lois Lane kissing his cheek), three different images of Supergirl and single images of Batman and Robin as well as Krypto the Superdog. Gameboard does not appear to have any restoration and shows moderate corner tip wear. Fine. Very rare and first we've seen in our 53 years. As Supergirl debuted in "Action Comics" #252 in May 1959, this lid art represents the earliest use of Supergirl on merchandise that we have seen or know of and also represents an unusual combination of Superman and Batman for that time. Dan Makara Collection.
