Item Description
One of three known examples, 5-3/8" long, most impressive ribbon badge with under the collet fabric holding 2.25" celluloid with back paper of Lopez, Boston. Their name also appears in gold letters on the reverse where the fabric wraps over the ribbon bar, below the bar pin. This 1914 Boston Braves club won the National League pennant with a record of 94-59 under manager George Stallings. Leadership of the team fell upon the keystone duo of National Baseball Hall of Famers Johnny Evers (2B) and Rabbit Maranville (SS). The Braves would go on to sweep the Philadelphia Athletics in four straight to take the 1914 World Series championship. Ribbon lettering has very slight color/luster loss. The convex button surface has a very slightly raised center just noticeable to the touch. The celluloid is incredibly clean and glossy with just the slightest general surface wear seen in reflected light. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example and also featured on his book's front cover.
