Item Description
First example Hake's has offered, 1" with Torsch & Franz, Baltimore back paper. The 1924 Washington Senators were winners of the American League pennant, finishing with a regular season record of 92-62 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager/player Bucky Harris, who also doubled as the team's starting second baseman. The team's biggest offensive forces that season were future Hall of Fame outfielders "Goose" Goslin and Sam Rice, while the mound corps was led by a living legend, the "Big Train", Walter Johnson. Walter would ultimately become one of five members of the very first Baseball Hall of Fame induction class, joining Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and Christy Mathewson. The Senators would also continue their momentum from the regular season and go on to defeat the National League's New York Giants in seven games to take the 1924 World Series, finally giving the "Big Train" his long awaited world championship. Rim at 4 o'clock has small, light age mark. The cello surface has more than usual and deeper than usual surface scratching; however, while noticeable in reflected light, the button still displays very well with intact gloss. Fine. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
