The 1926 St. Louis Cardinals won the National League pennant with a record of 89-65 under National Baseball Hall of Fame player/manager Rogers Hornsby, one of the best hitters in baseball history. Hornsby would finish with a career batting average of .358 along with 301 home runs and 1,584 RBI's. Joining Hornsby as fellow future Hall of Fame selectees were teammates Grover Cleveland Alexander (SP), Jim Bottomley (1B), Chick Hafey (OF), Jesse Haines (SP) and Billy Southworth (OF).
