Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box (marked "This Box Printed And Made In England") w/hinged lid contains 1-1/8" dia. silvered metal case watch w/beautiful celluloid dial featuring Mickey Mouse, whose hands point at the numerals. Second hand disc w/three small Mickey Mouse images positioned between Mickey's legs. Made in England, 1933. This first version features an image of Mickey quite different from the second version dial. This early image was updated after a very brief period of time to a more traditional Mickey image (see following item). Comes w/plain brown leather straps. Watch is running and Exc. w/NM dial. Comes w/two vintage magazine/newspaper ad clippings showing this first version watch as well as Mickey Mouse pocketwatch. Box shows moderate corner tip/edge wear and lid has three corner splits and scattered splits to surface paper at edges, but remains affixed to box along hinge, which has surface paper break along fold line. Die-cut insert is an expertly crafted replacement. Box is VG. Watch is rare and rarely offered. Box is very rare, and this is the first example we've offered in our 53 years. A true rarity in the world of character timepieces.
