Item Description
First example Hake's has offered. 2.25" with Steiner, St. Louis back paper and spring pin holding suspended 5" ribbon referencing an unknown "Committee". Referencing the St. Louis Cardinals dynasty of the late 1920s, winners of three National League pennants in five years, this wonderful relic was produced in 1930. The 1930 Cardinals finished in first place in the NL with a won-loss record of 92-62 under manager Gabby Street. A total of six National Baseball Hall of Famers played on this club, three of them on the offensive side and three on the pitching staff. Jim Bottomley (1B), Frankie Frisch (2B) and Chick Hafey (OF) led the everyday regulars while Jesse Haines, Burleigh Grimes and rookie, Dizzy Dean, who pitched in only one game that season, led the pitching staff. St. Louis would fall to the eventual World Champions Philadelphia Athletics in six games during the 1930 World Series. Cream areas of the button have widely scattered and very tiny air dots. High gloss. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
