Item Description
7/8" dia. litho button is first variety w/one-dimensional "Superman" name (was later released w/three-dimensional "Superman" name) and historic as it was issued in 1939. Reverse has "Read Superman Action Comics Magazine" blue lettering on bright silver. Front has some scattered wear w/a few pinpoint spots of bare metal showing to right of Superman's face. Fine overall. 1-5/8" tall die-cut brass premium badge depicts Superman flying and holding flag reading "Superman American" above his head. Pin was used by Gum, Inc. in 1940 and was offered to Superman Bubblegum Club members and then again in 1941 in conjunction w/the Defense Club milk program. Trace surface wear and some aging to back, but front remains bright. glossy and Exc. for display. 1" dia. cello button features full body image of Superman in flight. Issued in Australia, 1940s. Promotes "The Sunday Mail Comics Club." Very minor divot to side/collet at 9 o'clock area. Some tiny age spots above this. Fine. Rare and among the few Superman buttons issued in Australia during the 1940s. Dan Makara Collection.
