Item Description
1-3/8"x2-13/16". The set may have been issued in conjunction w/the San Francisco Seals Pacific Coast League trip to Japan in 1949. Set consists of eight Japanese players and nine American. Card fronts are red bordered and feature a color drawing of the player and team logo. Backs are printed in green ink and feature a rock/paper/scissors symbol in the upper left hand corner and the Japanese text translates to either "San Francisco Seals" or "All Japan Stars." The player's name is written down the center in Japanese w/four digit  card number at the bottom.

Victor Starffin was a Russian born player in Japanese baseball. He was the first professional pitcher to win 300 games in Japan and ranks number one all time there w/83 career shutouts. He was inducted into the Japanese Baseball HOF in 1960 and was the first foreign born player to be inducted. Highest and only example in the SGC census.

Designated by SGC as from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
