Item Description
Scarce, 3.5" no maker. Stengel's first Major League managerial job came with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1934 prior to his stint with the Boston Bees/Braves from 1938-43. Of course Casey had his most success with the Yankees clubs of the 1950s, dominated by Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford. Stengel was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY in 1966. In reflected light there are widely scattered air dots with a more extensive area of air dots and a few short air lines on the background over his left shoulder. The cello has very little wear and high gloss. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
