Item Description
3.5" with same design as previous button except the 1958 date on that one has been overprinted with a baseball glove.  Dr. Muchinsky speculates in his book, and we concur, that likely there were left over buttons at the end of the 1958 season which the maker figured out could be sold in the 1959 season if he covered over the old date. The 1958 San Francisco Giants finished in fourth place in the National League with a record of 80-74 under manager Bill Rigney. The Giants were led by a pair of Future National Baseball Hall of Famers, Willie Mays and Orlando Cepeda. The button has just a couple minor air marks and a tiny 1/8" rim scratch at 1 o'clock. High gloss. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
