Item Description
Scarce, 1", with back paper of maker Pilgrim Badge, Boston. Button pictures the Babe in Boston Braves uniform. The full name of the club was Jordan Marsh Babe Ruth Boys Club. Babe Ruth began his Major League career as a star lefthanded pitcher for the great Boston Red Sox teams of the mid-late 1910s. In 1920, "The Babe" joined the New York Yankees, where he was converted to a full-time outfielder and the rest, as they say, was history. Ruth would go on to slug 714 career home runs, by far the all-time record when he retired in 1936 after his one season with the Braves. Finishing with a career batting average of .342 along with 2,214 RBI's, 2,174 runs scored and 2,062 walks, the Babe would be part of the inaugural Hall of Fame class of 1936, joining fellow greats, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson and Christy Mathewson. Scattered pinpoints of air under the cello, but close to microscopic in size. Very minor surface wear and again near microscopic. Glossy and Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
