Item Description
1.75", no maker, rookie-era button. Following an impressive start to his professional career in the Negro Leagues, Don Newcombe began his Major League Baseball career in 1949 with the Brooklyn Dodgers and would be one of the aces of their pitching staff for the next seven seasons, winning 20 or more games on three different occasions. Following the Dodgers' move to Los Angeles in 1958, Newcombe would move on to Cincinnati for three seasons before finishing up his career with a brief stint in Cleveland in 1960. Newcombe finished with an impressive career record of 149-90 along with an ERA of 3.56 and 1,129 strikeouts. He also holds the distinction of being the first pitcher to win Rookie of the Year, the Cy Young award and league MVP award during his career. Light all over surface wear and scattered gray marks but not very dark. Still nice gloss. Fine. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
