Item Description
1.75" no maker with spring pin holding two ribbons plus thin rawhide cord joined to nicely detailed leather catcher's mitt with spherical yellow celluloid bead sewn into the pocket to represent a baseball. Bill Dickey began his Major League Baseball career with the New York Yankees in 1928 and would remain with the Yankees for his entire 17 year career, retiring after the 1946 season and having just lost three years of his career to military service from 1943-45. Dickey was widely regarded as one of the best hitting catchers in American League history, making the all-star team on 11 different occasions. Dickey finished with career numbers of .313 along with 202 home runs and 1,209 RBI's and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. High gloss. Exc.
