Item Description
Original 16x16" sleeve from Sound Studios of New York Inc. Transcription Headquarters contains 15.75" dia. two-sided translucent dark red vinyl for programs #71-72, parts 3 and 4 of "Lighthouse Point Smugglers" storyline, which were initially broadcast on Feb. 25 and 27, 1942. This radio program was begun in Feb. 1940 as a three times a week radio serial and was discontinued in March 1942. Show was revived again in Aug. 1942 and continued until Feb. 1949. Bud Collyer starred as the voice of Superman (continuing the role from the Fleischer/Famous Studios "Superman" cartoons). Sleeve has penciled dates at top left corner on front/back and shows corner tip/edge wear w/splits to one side and at bottom center. Small edge tears. Sleeve is VG. Disc's paper label has classic image of Superman breaking chains on each side. Sound Studios Of New York Inc. name appears on label as they were the makers of disc, produced by Western Electric Co. 33-1/3 rpm. Labels have red pencil air dates on both sides and record shows just lt. wear. Exc. overall.
