Item Description
8.5x11" to 11x15" photocopy process produced before the concerts. Three concert flyers for Malfunkshun concerts, the first band fronted by Andrew Wood the flamboyant Seattle icon who went by "L'andrew The Love Child" during this period and went on to front Mother Love Bone w/future Pearl Jam members Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament before tragically dying of an overdose in 1990. Included are: Sep. 12, 1987 My Eye, Skin Yard and Malfunkshun at Canterbury(minor handling, NM); Feb. 24, 1987 at Vogue (corner bump bottom at bottom right and a faint diagonal bend along right edge, Exc.) and Aug 2, 1987 w/My Eye Feast and Malfunkshun at the Lincoln Arts Center (tape pulls on reverse corners, scattered staple holes and corner bends, Fine). Also included is booklet distributed at Paramount Theater in Seattle, WA for Wood's memorial service that featured a who's who of the Seattle grunge scene mourning their beloved friend. Moderate handling. Exc. Wood entered rehab in 1989 in hopes of kicking his heroin habit before the release of MLB's highly anticipated first record "Apple" but succumbed to his addiction March 19. The loss of Wood represents one of the major 'what if's' of rock 'n roll history- had Wood lived would there have been a Pearl Jam? If Mother Love Bone met their lofty expectations would grunge legends Nirvana make the same cultural impact? Whatever the answer to these question the reality remains that Wood's impact on the Seattle scene was enormous and his legacy endures.
