Item Description
7-7/8x9.5" rare and desirable vintage glossy premium originating from Cuba to promote the Trinidad Y Hno cigar brand and depicting long-time Major League pitching star, Carl Mays, best known for being the only pitcher in MLB history to kill a batter with a pitched ball, beaning Cleveland Indian, Sam Chapman, in 1920. Aside from this very unfortunate incident, Mays fashioned a superb career record of 207-126 for a .622 winning percentage along with a 2.92 ERA and 862 strikeouts. After spending the earl years of his career with the Boston Red Sox, Carl would become a key contributor for the early 1920s New York Yankees and later with the New York Giants of the N.L. Premium presents very nicely with four very small mosquito holes, which is common for paper products coming from Cuba during this period, along with a 2.5" crease in the upper left-hand corner.
