Luque spent many winters, first as a player and later as a manager, playing in his native Cuba while spending his summers playing Major League baseball here in the U.S. Luque began his MLB career in 1918 with the Cincinnati Reds, where he would pitch for the next 12 seasons before moving on to Brooklyn for a couple of seasons and, finally, finish up his MLB career with the New York Giants from 1932-35. Adolfo finished with a career record of 194-179 with a 3.24 ERA and 1,130 strikeouts.
