Item Description
7x10" vintage wrap-around scorecard issued in conjunction w/the 1938 International League playoff series between Newark and Buffalo, taking place at Newark Ruppert Stadium. A 1938 Newark Bears (New York Yankees affiliate) team photo is prominently displayed at the bottom of the cover while team executives, Ray Kennedy (Bus. Mgr.), Colonel Jacob Ruppert (Pres.) and George M. Weiss (V. Pres.). What makes this scorecard cover so special is that both Colonel Ruppert and George Weiss would go on to be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY and their images here represent one of their very few period baseball collectibles. Star ballplayer for this club was Charlie Keller, New York Yankees star, who finished his career w/a .286 batting average along w/189 home runs and 760 RBI's. Lots of local business ads adorn this beautiful relic w/the unscored line-up card for both teams present at center. Scorecard makes an wonderful display piece. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
