Item Description
Official Rawlings AL (Budig) commemorative baseball has been signed in blue ink on sweet spot by Baseball HOF member Cal Ripken Jr., aka "The Iron Man," who played 21 MLB seasons for the Baltimore Orioles (1981-2001). Ripken compiled 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and 1,695 runs batted in during his career, and he won two Gold Glove Awards for his defense. He was a 19-time All-Star and was twice named AL MVP. Ripken holds the record for consecutive games played, 2,632, surpassing Lou Gehrig's streak of 2,130 that had stood for 56 years and that many deemed unbreakable. Ball was issued for this occasion and bears Ripken's name/jersey number and Orioles logo w/"2130 - 2131" designation. Ripken was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 2007, his first year of eligibility. Ball has been rubbed w/typical aging, but signature is still bold and sharp and the ball is clean. Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
