Item Description
1.75" dia. No maker. Name is misspelled as "Roger." Shown in St. Louis Browns cap and as the team's manager. He was player-manager of the team 1933-37 and again managed the Browns part of the 1952 season before being replaced by Marty Marion (see his companion button in this auction). One of the true legends of the game, Hornsby was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1942 and named to both the MLB All-Century and All-Time teams. Two tiny and faint spots of discoloration at forehead. Some age spotting on reverse rim curl and trace of oxidation on metal back. Front still remains bright and glossy. Fine.
